How to start an Instagram account

Hi There..... Do you have an Instagram account?

I opened mine in January 2017..... Not actually knowing how to use it properly  😕

So that's why I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to share some tips with you..... You never know when you might think..... Ok..... Let's do this 😀

Or maybe you already started but you are somewhat like me..... Winging it..... And think it's high time to stop messing around 😎

Maybe some explanation of what it is could be a great idea..... You can still be thinking..... What is this thing everyone's raving about 😳

To get you started..... Instagram is a mobile app and believe it or not..... It's free..... So go on..... Go crazy..... As Charles Bukowski said 'Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.'..... Come on now..... And you can start all by following me..... A few more followers never hurt anyone haha 😇 😂

Ok back to business..... You can get the app..... On your mobile phone only of course.....from the App Store, Google Play ore Window's Marketplace 😊

Are you ready to start and play now..... But first, think hard about that name of yours..... It will turn out to be more important than you know..... Maybe you already have an account name on other Social Media or your blog..... If you use the same name..... And if you are lucky people will find your Instagram profile 😁

The next thing to do is obviously fill in your profile..... You might want to check out some others and see what they put on theirs to get some inspiration 😋

Time to start to download pictures or video's now..... Just click on the plus and choose a picture you would like to share..... Enhance it with one of the filters of your choice..... Try to be somewhat consistent in the use of these filters..... And share it with your followers..... Aha..... No followers of course 😁

That's exactly what I was thinking at the time..... How on earth will I get those followers..... I can tell you it's not always that easy..... So wait before you post that picture of yours 😄

To have people find you and also want to follow your feed..... You need to have a bit of text that goes with your picture and most important of all..... Hashtags..... Oh my now don't tell me you don't know what they are..... You must have been living under a rock 😲

To get my hashtags I actually use a very handy app https://www.flick.tech..... Regret to say that it's not free but I can tell you it is super handy..... Especially if you have no clue at all which ones to use..... The better the Hashtags the easier you will get found and the more followers you get..... But you need to keep in mind that they have to fit with that picture of yours..... And you can use a maximum of 30 tags per Instagram post 😎

You will find out that you can click on those Hashtags from Instagram to see what others have posted..... You will see that there are 2 tabs to choose from..... Either you choose to see the popular ones or you can go to the tab Recent..... If you want to you can also decide to follow the tab..... Of course, I will tell you what you have to gain by following those 😀

When you open your Instagram and you start scrolling down you get what's called your Instagram Feed..... Oh yes, you get fed using Instagram..... But nothing edible of course 😂

So what do you get to see if you scroll down your feed..... First of all, you get the posts from those you decided to follow..... Secondly you also get to see the posts from people that used those Hashtags you decided to follow..... And then there are also the sponsored posts..... From the people that use Instagram for advertising 😉

You then get to decide if you want to like those posts or not..... Just by clicking the heart ..... And if you want you can also comment on them by clicking on the text balloon..... You can also forward them to other people or a group of people by clicking on the arrow 

These options also count for a post of your own..... And I know what you are thinking..... Oh yes, I do.....There are people that comment on their own post..... That's what you were thinking..... Wasn't it 😂

Now just another minute before you post that first picture of yours..... If you want you can also tag others or even yourself for that matter..... All you have to do is mention them in your text..... Like this..... @seadbeady ..... Nothing more to it 😁

So go on..... Start posting those pictures..... But not too many at once..... That would be spamming and could get you removed again from Instagram 😇

A few more tips maybe..... You can connect your other Social Media accounts to Instagram..... This way you can decide to post a picture not only to Instagram but also on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr for Instance 😄

One very important tip is never to use any apps to unfollow people..... That could get you grounded for a couple of days at first or maybe, later on, removed permanently 😰

Another important tip is not to follow too many people at once..... This could also get you grounded or banned.....You have to build your following gradually..... You might be tempted to get into some kind of follow loop..... They could help you build your audience but you might ask yourself are they the ones you want as followers 😍

One more thing you have to keep in mind..... At least that is something that I had to find out for myself..... The maximum amount of people you can follow is 7.500..... So don't think you can keep following people endlessly 😉

There's a lot more I could tell you probably but I don't want you falling asleep here..... But feel free to ask me any questions about this topic..... Who knows I might even be able to answer them 😂

What if I don't know what to blog about?

Hi There.....Do you like to write.....Are you a blogger?

I do and have been blogging since 2017. In the beginning, I only wanted to do this in order to promote my Etsy jewelry shop.....But I became to love it so much that it turned out to be much more than that 😀

So maybe you would like to blog a bit more but you are a bit stuck and you can't seem to find any good ideas on what to write about 😧

I will try and give you some inspiration on what topics you could blog about 😁

Competition

Number one on the list and it can give you a lot more views is making a contest. Be sure to check out others before you do so in order not to forget things.

Review

Number two on my list could be a review of a product.....If you take a look at my feed you can see that I have done a lot of those too.....But it could just as well be a review of a book you read recently or a film you have seen.

Guide or Tutorial

Number three on my list is to make a guide or tutorial about something. But be sure to make it on something you know a lot about and know that you are writing it for somebody who doesn't know anything about it. Maybe you are a knitter or you like to sew.....People always love to learn new things.

Interview

Number four on my list is something I haven't done before but I am planning to do still.....Interview someone. If you know any celebrities, be sure to ask them.

Free-Write

Number five on my list is something I have done a few times on my Hive blog.....Do a free-write.....Maybe you have always dreamed about being a writer. Well then now is your time to shine and write a story out of your imagination. But you can also write something out of your own experience.

Recipes

Number six on my list is sharing a recipe for something you love to eat or would like to try.....Stack it with pictures of your own and make it comprehensive for people that had no experience with any kind of cooking.

Poems

Number seven on this list is.....If you are good at it of course.....Write a poem. People love good poetry.

Travels

Number eight on my list is that you could share your experiences about your travel destinations. Surely you must have visited some lovely destinations where you took loads of great pictures.....Share the best ones in your blog post.....And tell us a bit about where it was and what you did.....Share your personal thoughts on what you liked or didn't like maybe.

Video

Number nine on this list could be a video you made about something and you would like to share your thoughts on. Maybe you are a musician or you act or anything you would like to show to us.

Lists

Number ten and that is what this blog post is all about.....Make a list of something.....It could be anything.....A list of questions.....A list of your favorite blog sites for instance.....A list of your top travel destinations.....A to-do list.

Always be sure to write in your own style.....Show us who you are in your writing.....

Avoid spelling mistakes by using Grammarly.....If the pictures you used aren't your own.....Don't forget to mention the source.....And most important try to be creative 😋
