Introducing you to - hugsbeads

Hi There.....Are you a fan of hugs?

You are.....come on just admit it 😉

A weird question you might think. But it has everything to do with Hugsbeads, the shop I am introducing you to today.

Paula, the shopowner, wants to take you on a journey on how beading found her. She was not particularly looking for a hobby, let alone a passion, but it chose her.

Sounds cool.....don't you agree 😃

It all started 10 years ago, shortly after she had given birth to two beautiful bouncing identical twin boys. She already had a 6-year-old and 4-year-old son running around, and now she was up to her eyeballs with feeding twins and changing diapers. Oh yes, she says, the endless diaper changes!

I already had similar thoughts when having one kid at a time 😰

She was running on steam, not getting much sleep, feeling each day merge into the next with every minute scheduled. She loved being a mom more than anything but was feeling slightly overwhelmed.

But help was on its way.....Her mom came over to help her with the twins and brought with her a project for them to share. A simple earring bead pattern, a needle, thread, and some beads. They sat down to learn how to make this pair of earrings. And that is all it took for actually both of them to fall in love with beading. Especially the fact of doing something a bit 'girly' for a change.

That is how a lot of us Etsy sellers get started.....doing something simple, loving it and wanting to learn more 😃

So to continue her story.....From that point, she researched how to sew different bead weaving stitches and learned techniques of bead embroidery, which she absolutely loved to do cause it gave her the feeling of being able to be as creative as she wanted.

Her twins are now 10 years and she has been beading for all those years! She loves the feeling of designing and completing a piece. It's just part of her now.

She finds her inspiration everywhere. Sometimes she draws them, sometimes she just keeps them in her thoughts until she gets into her studio, and other times she has no clue where a piece is going until it's in her hands and she gets to work on it.

You might have been wondering where do those hugs come in then 😯

That is because there is love behind every piece, a story, a discovery, a journey.....a hug in form of the beads. She wants that hug to be a small reminder that we all have talents within us that are just there waiting to be discovered.

Now let me show you some of the pieces she has listed in her Etsy shop.

Introducing you to Rabenkraeuter

Hi There.....Are you a fan of plants and herbs?

I would think most of us are 😊 I myself love to experiment in my cooking with herbs.

Well, I have a very special story for you this time about the shop Rabenkraeuter

A few years ago the shop-owner and her family were on their way to visit a small yard. The last part of the street a raven escorted them. He landed on a large upstanding stone on the farmyard. So they bought the micro yard and are still cultivating it today. The Raven, so they learned, was saved as a chick by one of the former farmers.

It often accompanies the shop-owner on her herbal walks. This black bird was the inspiration for 'Hof Rabenstein' and its herbs.

The shop-owner now gives guided tours, where she leads people around and teaches them about wild plants and their uses.

One of the most popular workshops is Blumenfeuer/Flowerfire. It's a workshop where they make colorful sugars and salts, and the participants get to take those home as a small souvenir. Then they cook a 'wilde wald und wiesen menu'.....a wild forest and meadow menu.....and end the day around the campfire.

That sounds great to me 😃

Another popular workshop is Herbarium production. Most participants in this are fellow herb teachers or Biology/Pharmacy students. They get to take home their own made flower press filled with a future specimen.

So those are some of the things you can find in her Etsy shop. Along with postcards made from beautiful pictures a fellow herb teacher makes.

I think it is time now to show you a few things out of the shop.

Introducing you to - AnnArtJewelry

Hi There.....Are you a fan of unique jewelry?

I sure hope so cause today I am introducing you to a shop with unique boho macrame jewelry called AnnArtJewelry.

Anna, the shop owner is a self-taught macrame artist. She loves designing her own jewelry and gets her inspiration from Mother Nature.

In most of her pieces, she uses her own handmade polymer clay cabochons or beads. This way she is able to combine the colors the way she likes.

You might wonder what a cabochon is.....It's a rounded stone with a flat reverse. But you can also make them in polymer clay of course 😃

She also uses semiprecious cabochons and beads, seed beads, Swarovski crystals, sterling silver, and waxed cord. Sometimes she includes other raw materials like sea shells, nutshells, sea pebbles, sea wood.....this way she ensures that most of her jewelry is one of a kind.

All the materials are carefully chosen by herself and are of the best quality. The waxed thread also used in her designs is of high quality with timeless durability.

Let me show you some of the one of a kind jewelry pieces you can find in her Etsy shop 😊

Introducing you to - StarchaserDesignsUS

Hi There.....Do you like to read?

Did you ever hear of the word Abibliophobia 😉 They say it is the fear of running out of things to read.

Maybe the shopowner of StarchaserDesignsUS has heard of that word before, cause she is an avid reader and part of a book review group.

She said that she once saw a tutorial on how to make ribbon bookmarks and thought 'That would be a great gift for my reader and author friends'.

Like many other Etsy shop owners, she started off small 😃

She had always liked making things from sewing to crocheting but never took either of those very far. But when she started making bookmarks she was having so much fun. That's why she thought why not make this hobby into something more. After all, she did sell several silky ribbon bookmarks to an author friend, so why not take it one step further.

That's how her hobby turned in to making bookmarks, keyrings, beaded purse dangles, thong bookmarks, phone charms, and just about anything you can think of using ribbon, beads, and charms.

She is looking to make this hobby into a full-time job in the future. At the moment she is doing this on her own, but when she goes to craft shows and flea markets her mom and niece are always ready to help.

Time to show you what she has to offer in her Etsy shop 😊

Introducing you to - Knitux

Hi There.....Are you a fan of knits?

They are warm and cozy don't you think so?

I did a search on Wikipedia to find out how far knitting goes back 😉 It seems the oldest knitted artifacts are socks from Egypt. They were from the 11th Century. They are a very fine gauge, done with a complex colorwork and some have a short row heel. The complexity of these knits suggests that knitting is even older than this archeological find.

But let me introduce you today to Knitux ðŸ˜ƒ

The shop owner, Martha is a photographer, graphic designer, and illustrator from Latvia. She has been interested in knitting and crocheting ever since she was a little child. Like most of us knitters (I do also knit occasionally 😄), she was taught by her mother and grandmother. But later on, she also took craft lessons in school.

She makes knit and crochet beanies, berets, shawls, and scarfs. It is good to know that she works with natural materials such as wool, alpaca fiber, linen, and silk. But they are sometimes blended with small amounts of high-quality artificial fibers to make the yarn stronger and perfect for daily use.

She lives in a small village called Asune, that is located in Latgale. This region is famous for his blue lakes and strong craft traditions. Some people there still use horse carts as transport.

That is quite astonishing, don't you think so 😲

But let me show you some of her beautiful creations 😊

Tell me what you think? If you ask me.....those are really nice knits 😘
