Introducing you to - Knitux

Hi There.....Are you a fan of knits?

They are warm and cozy don't you think so?

I did a search on Wikipedia to find out how far knitting goes back 😉 It seems the oldest knitted artifacts are socks from Egypt. They were from the 11th Century. They are a very fine gauge, done with a complex colorwork and some have a short row heel. The complexity of these knits suggests that knitting is even older than this archeological find.

But let me introduce you today to Knitux ðŸ˜ƒ

The shop owner, Martha is a photographer, graphic designer, and illustrator from Latvia. She has been interested in knitting and crocheting ever since she was a little child. Like most of us knitters (I do also knit occasionally 😄), she was taught by her mother and grandmother. But later on, she also took craft lessons in school.

She makes knit and crochet beanies, berets, shawls, and scarfs. It is good to know that she works with natural materials such as wool, alpaca fiber, linen, and silk. But they are sometimes blended with small amounts of high-quality artificial fibers to make the yarn stronger and perfect for daily use.

She lives in a small village called Asune, that is located in Latgale. This region is famous for his blue lakes and strong craft traditions. Some people there still use horse carts as transport.

That is quite astonishing, don't you think so 😲

But let me show you some of her beautiful creations 😊

Introducing you to - ARTEAMANOetsy

Hi There.....are you a fan of handcrafted jewelry?

I sure hope so.....Cause today I am introducing you to ARTEAMANOetsy.

Dimitra and Vangelis, a self-taught artist couple are the owners of this shop on Etsy. They like traveling and have a deep contact with nature which inspires them for all their jewelry creations.

They love macrame techniques. You might wonder what in the world is macrame

It is the art of knot tying with threads.....many little knots keep the beads or gemstones in place and give an ethnic-earthy style to their quality handcrafted jewelry.

They use waxed threads of superior quality with timeless durability. This makes sure that all the macrame jewelry maintains its shape and color for a long time, have a perfect appearance and stays strong and durable.

They also combine the macrame with silver soldered jewelry to create unique limited edition jewelry.

The gemstones used in their jewelry is collected from their travels to make sure the customer has nothing less than outstanding quality at a very reasonable price.

That sounds great, don't you think so 😃

Introducing you to - SnickerdoodleKnitsCo

Hi There.....Is it getting colder where you are too?

It is over here in Belgium. I am not a huge fan of wintertime especially not the cold 😞

But there are some things to help you fight the cold.....like warm, fuzzy knitwear.

That's why I am introducing you today to SnickerdoodleKnitsCo. It's a one-woman run shop and it's operated from Jessica's apartment living room.

You might think huh.....what the heck is so special about that. Well, it is the passion and enthusiasm that's kindled in Jessica's cozy knitter's heart and transferred to you in the form of warm, fuzzy knitwear and goods for your family and home.

She has been knitting for about 10 years but never dreamed of owning a knit shop until her last year of college. Mostly cause she never had time to even think about knitting as an engineering student. When she pulled out her knitting again over her last winter break, she rediscovered her love for knitting. The way the click of the needles and the squish of the yarn relaxed her stress and anxiety. By then she had discovered that engineering actually was not her 'thing' 😦

She had always had a love for crafts and creative work, but some influential people in her life had convinced her that things like graphic design or photography were not worth the limited paycheck. That might be true for some people, but sometimes you have to follow your heart. So now she is working as an interior designer 'by day' and operating a knit shop 'by night'.

So let's take a look at what her needles produced for you 😃
