Interview With Fashion Designer Oscar Udeshi

Hi There..... Are you a fan of men's fashion? Would you like to learn more about a fashion designer for menswear?

I know 80% of my followers and readers are women, but perhaps you are married, and looking for some special men's wear fashion? You may not need it right now, but pretty soon the wedding season is coming again, and you might want a brand new suit for your hubby. 😊

Promise you won't say I told you, but have you thought about what could happen if you buy him something new? Ah yes indeed, you get back what you give. Huh, no, not menswear, of course, but who knows? There may be a new outfit in it for you. 😏

Ah, talking about men's fashion always reminds me of the diet coke break ad. Although it has nothing to do with fashion, on the contrary, it's all about a shirtless construction worker. 😋

Ok, now I have your attention. You can check it out if you follow this link. One is never too old to look at well-built shirtless men, and no reason to keep it all to myself. 😉

It's just like in the song 'Dirty Ol’ Man' of the Three Degrees, "That you can look but please don't touch". Or just like my dad used to say to my mom, my eyes are meant to see, and even though he was a faithful man, he didn't look the other way when a beautiful woman crossed his path. 😄

My mom also had a saying about good-looking men, though. It's quite hard to translate because it was in Antwerp slang (van een schoon tafel kunde ni eten), but the meaning behind it was that a handsome man might not bring food to the table, or provide for you. I often begged to differ and replied, you may never know. 😁

Enough about my past. Let's see what Oscar Udeshi, the 47-year-old fashion designer behind Udeshi answered to my interview questions. 😍

Picture provided by https://udeshi.co.uk/

What kind of work do you do, or what are you studying to be?

Design ready to wear and tailor bespoke and made to measure menswear.
I am a truly modern tailor who designs soft, lightweight, comfortable and exquisitely crafted clothing and accessories to take clients from the beach to the boardroom and beyond.

What made you decide to become a Fashion Designer?

I always enjoyed working with my hands and love the act of creation. It's wonderful seeing in a relatively short amount of time the result of one’s ideas and hard work turn into a finished product that can be worn for decades or just one night. What we create affects other people, and what they feel when they are wearing one of our lightweight soft pieces.

Is fashion important to you? Why?

Fashion is how you dress and how others perceive you, which affects your relationship with them. It is also how I portray or represent myself and reflects my moods and outlook on life.

Picture provided by https://udeshi.co.uk/

What are your successes, and how did you achieve them?

Aside from still going strong after two decades, I guess having that grit and never giving up, and constantly coming up with new ideas, never being static.

Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing?

As I mostly make my own, I don’t buy clothing that often. When I do, I look for quality, good design, durability, and fit, of course. I find those with certain brands, and not others, so the name is somewhat important, but more important is what it stands for. This is also why our clients come to us.

Describe your personal style of clothing?

I prefer soft, unstructured clothing that is light and comfortable, and almost weightless. Also, I like my clothes fitted and shaped, but not tight. I prefer solid colours and experiment with textures more than patterns, so everything is a little more nuanced. It should take time for someone to notice my ensemble and all the little details, just like one’s character.

Picture provided by https://udeshi.co.uk/

How did you find your personal style? Do you have a signature look?

At my age, and what I do, people may have expectations, I certainly do, of how I look and what that represents. After decades, I found what works for me. It has to be chic, smart, comfortable, practical, and hopefully, look like it has been put together effortlessly.

When I am not wearing a three-piece suit, it is usually a pair of bespoke khakis or jeans, a fitted shirt, and a soft unstructured jacket.
That way I am always “dressed”, smart and am prepared for almost any social interaction during the day. I dislike having a “signature” look, as that can also be limiting, and people grow, so what I liked and who I was as a teenager is not necessarily who I am now.
It is also nice to surprise people now and again.

Do you have an influence on other people’s clothing style?

As I make their clothing and have done so for two decades, I would say so. Some have taken bolder decisions because of our house style and our experimentation with fabrics, and others have gone the other way where they don’t need to think about what they wear anymore as everything fits them, their lifestyle, and they can combine everything together.

What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?

I’m enjoying the embrace of colors following lockdown—it is nice that everything doesn’t have to be black. It’s also great to see a renewed interest in heritage pieces and fabrics.

What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?

Trying to mix formal tailoring with athleisure wear. You have three distinct categories of clothing that have different and competing requirements. It just looks like a mess, in my opinion.

Picture provided by https://udeshi.co.uk/

What kind of fashion advice would you give us?

Buy better but less. There is no point in having a bursting wardrobe that one never wears. Far better to buy quality that one can wear time and time again. This takes up less space in your wardrobe. The quality garment will last far longer and it is much better for the environment.

Who is your style icon and why?

There is no one person who represents my style. If there was, then it would be their style and not mine. I am partial to the American actor Steve McQueen’s wardrobe in the original Thomas Crown Affair. The casual wear looked effortless, and when he put on a suit, everyone knew he meant business. Everything looked like it should. Nothing was out of place.

Is there something else you would like to share with us?

If you have to justify the purchase of an item, then it is probably better if you don’t buy it.
Fittings for bespoke clothing can be undertaken in Marbella, London, and internationally during trunk shows. Contact Oscar to arrange a fitting and consultation by emailing info@udeshi.co.uk or calling +34 671 789 771.

Where To Find Cat Eye Sunglasses - Eyewear Insight - Eyewear Glasses

Hi There..... Do you use eyewear glasses? What would you say about a pair of Cat Eye Sunglasses?

If you have been looking for a combination of prescription eyewear glasses and cat eye sunglasses, I have an excellent tip for you today. 😎

Have you been enjoying the first rays of sunshine? I have, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nope, I did not turn into a lobster just yet. 😁

What a relief. For all I know, someone could have eaten me. Although, that may not be the best idea. Why not? Because I am not a spring chicken anymore. More like a tough old bird. 😂

But as Les Brown said, "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.", and I still have lots of dreams. 😊

I have always dreamed of a cool pair of cat eye sunglasses, and that dream came through a few days ago. Eyewear Insight gifted me these eyewear glasses in exchange for my honest opinion. 😍

Who is Eyewear Insight

The labs that EyeWear Insight works with have been in business as an optical laboratory and are major manufacturers with over 12 years of experience.

As a direct resource, we, at Eyewear Insight, use a modern and technically advanced lab to produce our well-crafted, yet affordable eyeglasses, lenses, and frames.

Eyewear Insight brings you a complete collection of eyewear glasses.

We carry prescription eyeglasses, including computer glasses, reading glasses, prescription sunglasses, bifocals, progressive lenses, and non-prescription or clear eyeglasses. These are presented in your choice of rimless glasses, full rim glasses, half rim glasses, or with clip-ons. In addition, we offer polarized lenses (for safety glasses or kid's glasses), transitional or photochromatic lenses (darken with sunlight, lighten indoors), and all the different coatings that can make your eyeglasses special.

All brought to you at the best price around. All orders include free anti-scratch coating, free anti-reflective free microfiber cleaning cloth, free protective case, free UV coating, and shipping $5.95, free on all additional pairs. Further, we don't charge extra for high prescriptions (high index or mid-index lens), enjoy your eyeglasses plain and simple.

Affordable Quality Eyewear Glasses

We view ourselves as socially responsible and feel that with our business, we can bring quality eyewear to people who need it at a price that is very affordable.

This includes the elderly that may have limited income, and those that cannot spend hundreds of dollars to buy quality eyewear.

Online Shopping

Shop from the comfort of your home or office, no more spending hundreds of dollars for your eyewear, instead buy several pairs, one for each mood or outfit!

We are dedicated to bringing to you the finest optical quality with a guarantee that we will take any eyeglasses back, no questions asked (minus shipping cost) as long as it is in the original condition that you received them.

N Portman Cat Eye Glasses

Take away these new half-rim cat-eye glasses, to add a little spark to your daily look. It features a cut-out design that runs through the upper part of the frame up to the sides of its temples.

The front and temples are made of metal.
These glasses are lightweight with a classic cat-eye look. Metal frames made from metal, titanium, or alloys (a mixture of metals) stand up well to wear and tear. Titanium frames are very strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant. They are hypoallergenic, an important consideration for people who are allergic to certain metals, such as nickel.

My opinion on the Cat Eye Sunglasses

They have an extensive range to choose from, and if you see something you like, you can do a Virtual Tryon, which I think is a great addition to the website.

My glasses fit perfectly and I love they are so lightweight. What I also love is the splash of color on these sunglasses. You can see that the glasses are of good quality, but it's a shame the protective case isn't that great. 😞

Then again if I would have to choose between a great pair of eyewear glasses with a less protective case or the same type of glasses of poor quality with a great case, I would absolutely go for the quality eyewear glasses. I'd be crazy not to. 😜

By the way, you can also buy this pair of eyewear glasses with non-polarized glasses if you like. Perhaps you just want a pair of reading glasses or computer glasses instead of my cat eye sunglasses. Take a look at their website, and you will find that anything is possible. 😍

If you have some time to spare, you might be interested in reading the interview below. I was not the one asking the questions this time, but answering them. 😉

Interview With Fashion Designer Claire Louise Pinckney

Hi There..... Do you think it's ok to get your clothes wet? Yes, then perhaps you are ready for a new deep dive into the fashion industry.

I still have a few fashion designers up my sleeve. Ah yes, I have very large sleeves, and they aren't the smallest designers. 😁

At the moment, there is a new season of Project Runway running here on television. They have 3 permanent judges on the series, and the 4th one is usually someone famous with a link to the fashion industry. I just love what these fashion designers create. 😊

I sometimes wish I could be there too and take pictures and share a blog about it. That would make a superb blog post, wouldn't it? Can you take shots from a fashion show and just share them on your blog? I have seen others do this, but that doesn't mean it is allowed, I suppose. 😏

Then again, how would I get there, because it's not that obvious if you live in Belgium like me? Nope, never been to America. I Always wanted to pay a visit to the Bead & Button show too, so if I could find someone crazy enough to pay for my trip, perhaps I could kill 2 birds with one stone. 😳

Hmm, can you wait a few minutes? I need time to find myself a nice stone. Oh my, I could never do that. Kill a living being, except for some insects of which I am not a fan. Mosquitoes and flies, surely you must agree, they are the worse. 😬

Wow, I wandered so far off-topic. From fashion designers to insects. Wouldn't that be a great book title? Except I wouldn't have a clue what it would be about. 😦

Ok, time to introduce you to Claire Louise Pinckney who is Fashion Designer & Trend Forecaster. She is the founder of itsintheedit.com, a Design & Trend Forecasting agency. and she also currently works as Head of Trend for Ruggable.com - a US-based rug manufacturer.

How old are you?

I’ll be hitting the BIG 50 milestone in February.

What kind of work do you do, or what are you studying to be?

As I mentioned, at the moment I am forecasting interior trends for ruggable along with creating captivating content for It’s in the Edit.

What made you decide to become a Fashion Designer?

I’ve always loved fashion. From a very young age, I would always be in charge of what I would wear (much to my mother's chagrin). This passion for personal style bloomed over my early years into the desire to not only choose what I would wear but to create it, too.

Is fashion important to you? Why?

Yes, fashion is very important to me. I believe that how we dress affects our self-esteem, for better or for worse.

Fashion, for me, is connected to emotion. Like art, fashion evokes a feeling in us when we look at it, touch it, or wear it. I believe clothes have the power to make us feel good about ourselves. I also believe that we should dress for ourselves and no one else.

What are your successes, and how did you achieve them?

I have been blessed with a long and varied career in an industry I am passionate about - for me, that alone is one of the biggest successes of my life. Having the ability to do a job that you love is priceless.

Working in fashion has given me the ability to travel the world, live and work in different countries, and above all - hopefully, make women all over the world feel beautiful inside & out.
As far as accolades, having my designs featured in Vogue UK and Harpers Bazaar, InStyle and Elle is very rewarding.

Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing?

Honestly, it used to be, but not so much anymore. These days I love mixing high street with high fashion, mixing vintage and/or pre-loved with my signature pieces to create a style all your own. To me, style is something you create not buy, so the brand is not important - it’s all about how you wear it.

Describe your personal style of clothing?

I’m definitely more on the edgy side, a little rock & roll, a little street. I don’t do girly, and frills are not my thing at all. When I see others wearing them I love them but on my - no, I look like a cupcake and feel like one too!

How did you find your personal style? Do you have a signature look?

My style has definitely grown over the years. I’ve never been scared to try out a new look, but have always tried to work it into something that felt like me. Through those years of trial and error, I learned what suits me - what makes me feel like me - clothes that I wear rather than clothes that wear me - if you know what I mean?

I move between two uniforms for the day - either a coated or leather black skinny bottom with a camisole of some sort and a blazer. Not forgetting my signature studded high heel boots or shoes. My second go-to day outfit is drop crotch pants, white or black T-shirt, a leather biker jacket, and trainers. And for the night, I have a multitude of variations on the little black dress and black stilettos.

Do you have an influence on other people’s clothing style?

I like to think so. Having designed so many best-selling styles, I think my style has been to more parties than I could even comprehend over the years. A lot of friends ask me for advice too. Just recently I helped a good friend of mine put together an outfit for a Women in Hollywood breakfast celebrating Jennifer Anniston. She ended up with a beautiful Saint Laurent blue tweed jacket that brought out her eyes and, you guessed it, a pair of black leather skinnies (I shared the love and lent her mine). She looked and felt fabulous. That was a proud moment for me.

What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?

The best overarching trend happening in fashion right now is the shift to sustainability & a circular production cycle. This has been a long time coming!!
As far as design trends, I’m loving the #regencycore trend and all the historical references, sublime tailoring, beautiful simple prints, and both innerwear as outerwear.

What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?

I’m not so keen on the return of the 2000s, probably because I lived through it for the first time. That said, I had a lot of fun with fashion back then so I’m sure there are a couple of items I’ll drag out of the back of the closet like a lace halter neck top and I’m already into my straight leg and bootleg jeans again - even if the rise is a little higher than it was back then.

What kind of fashion advice would you give us?

Dress for yourself. Wear what makes you feel good. Once you find the look and/or proportions that feel good to you, play with them. Experiment with color, pattern, accessories, etc. Keep the base but layer on the fun. That way you can stay on-trend and still be true to YOU!

Who is your style icon and why?

Wow, that’s a loaded question. There are so many people's styles I respect, so I’m going to answer it a different way and talk about a couple of amazing fashion designers that have impacted me and the world at large.
Coco Chanel - she revolutionized fashion for women. She didn’t care what others thought and did what she wanted to do, wore what she wanted to wear - that took guts and her ideas & designs have stood the test of time.
Gianni Versace - he was ahead of his time in so many ways. His creative vision spearheaded the excess of 80s and early 90s fashion and he was relentless in his passion for glamour and sex appeal.
Virgil Abloh - Virgil showed the world that street can redefine couture. He pushed boundaries, took a stand for what he believed, and yet remained humble and true to his cause. RIP.

Is there something else you would like to share with us?

Fashion should be fun! You should feel comfortable in your clothes just as you should feel comfortable in your skin. Dress for yourself, always!! For more design tips, subscribe at itsintheedit.com and follow us on IG @itsintheedit

Thank you Claire for filling in my questions. I couldn't agree more than you should feel you in your clothes. 😍

Where to find 6 DIY Crafts For Men And Women - DIY Gift Guide

Hi There..... Are you ready for a whole new kind of gift guide? Are you a fan of DIY crafts?

Well, at least on my blog it’s a new type of gift guide. Since I am quite creative myself, I thought, why not give you some ideas for DIY Crafts? 😉

Perhaps, browsing some new shops could bring some new ideas? Although, my brain sometimes has too many ideas, and it seems there are not enough hours in a day. 😧

It has become worse since I moved. Yes, it’s a regular disaster, and I am torn. Maybe I should stop being creative and restrict myself to only watching television. No more blogs or gift guides. Doesn’t this sound like the perfect idea? 😁

Are you crazy? I would lose my mind for sure. Oh my, I wonder what that would look like. I’d most likely give myself a heart attack looking in the mirror. No, it’s bad enough as it is. Besides, who says I will still be able to see. 😂

You must agree it’s not an option to stop crafting if you are into knitting, sewing, making music, drawing, painting, or DIY crafts. Ah, you are wondering why it got worse since we moved. 😮

For almost 5 years, we stashed my keyboard in our basement. Why would I do something like that? I could either choose to make room for my keyboard or a bed for my granddaughter. 😐

You may think I am crazy, but my grandchild is far more important, and there were enough other craft options for me. 😍

This time, there weren’t that many businesses that responded to my pitch, so this DIY gift guide isn’t extensive, but as Plato once said, “The greatest wealth is to live content with little”. 😎

DIY Knit Scarf Kit $125.00

I was taught to knit by my yoga teacher. She was giving a 4-week course on the basics of knitting - while emphasizing the meditative qualities and mindfulness that knitting provides. To say that I loved it is an understatement. I enjoyed the process of knitting as well as the products that I was making with my newly acquired knitting skills.

One day, during an internet search - looking for knitting ideas - I came across the idea of extreme knitting and I was hooked. Extreme knitting is knitting that is done with large needles and oversized yarn. I began creating throws for family and friends - using larger needles and my Yummy custom-made, oversized, 100% merino wool yarn. The response to my blankets was so positive that I decided to turn my passion into a business and started It’s a…Yummy.

We believe beauty is in the details. The quality of our wool, the size and color of our yarn, and the weave of our knit contribute to the uniqueness of our creations. Additionally, we hand-knit all of our products to ensure each piece is a beautiful and usable work of art. Our philosophy at It’s a…Yummy is simple: Color + Texture = Yummy!!!

Make your own Yummy Knit Scarf with this knitting kit. Each kit contains Yummy yarn in Natural, project-specific knitting needles, and the project pattern - as well as a cotton canvas Yummy logoed tote bag.

This kit is a great way to create your winter scarf with Yummy yarn. It is a fun and creative way to relax and be mindful!

Crafts Create Change Book $29.97

Before writing Dear God Are We There Yet? and launching the volunteer community, I was deeply invested in the fashion industry. I had some amazing opportunities with Favala Designs and Fashion is a Business with being featured on the Dr. Oz Show, Black Shopping Network Channel, endless publications, and various fashion weeks around the world. Fast forward, my life hit tragedy when I had a hysterectomy at the age of 29 leaving me in a deep depression because I would no longer be able to have children.
An idea in a car ride developed into opening Florida's first fashion design and sewing school for children. Using my passion for fashion and crafts, I was able to create change in communities, families, and future generations. After closing that chapter in my life, I began writing and creating 'Dear God Are We There Yet?', but I knew that one day I would go back to my fashion roots. I am so excited to launch my very own sewing and crafts book inspiring people to create life-changing projects that will support organizations, communities and enrich people’s lives. These projects are perfect for all ages and skill levels and give you the opportunity to donate to people in need locally or internationally.

This book is not just any craft book. In fact, it’s so much more than a craft book. It’s a tool for positive change in your community and in the world. Alicia Sanchez, Founder of 'Dear God, Are We There Yet?', volunteer travel community,  shows crafters and sewing enthusiasts how to identify opportunities for change around them and how to use their hands and creativity to make those changes happen.
These sewing & craft projects are easy enough for people of all ages and skill levels to complete. Alicia also provides additional online resources: such as step-by-step instructional videos for each project and a donation directory for finding where to donate the handicrafts you create. Crafts Create Change has over forty different projects to choose from, including community projects. Start making meaningful, functional crafts to create positive change today! 80% of the profits from this book will go directly to the 'Dear God, Are We There Yet?' Impact Microgrants

Interview with Fashion Stylist Jenn Rosado

Hi There..... Are you in for a new fashion stylist interview? In or not, you will have to be ok with my deep dive into the fashion industry.

Or you could stop reading, of course, who cares. Close my blog post if you like. It's of no importance to me. 😎

No wait, I was just kidding. Of course, I want you to read this fashion stylist's interview. Even better, the more you read, the happier I become. 😃

Ah yes, I have built up quite some reading material over the years. In August I am celebrating my 5th blog birthday. If you have any suggestions on how to celebrate this event, let me know in the comments. 😊

For all I know, I might even take your idea into consideration. Are there shops also celebrating their 5th anniversary? It could be a plan to do a giveaway together. Oh yes, I know, sometimes I come up with the weirdest ideas. Strange people do strange things, don't they? 😁

Enough chit-chat, let's talk about Jenn Rosado, the 36-year-old fashion stylist I am featuring on my blog today. 😍

What is your function, and the company you work for?

I am an Editorial/Celebrity Stylist, so I either put together clothing stories for magazines or I am dressing actors for all kinds of events - from Red Carpet to a big audition to a cast dinner.

What kind of work do you do, or what are you studying to be?

See the answer to question 1!

What made you decide to become a Fashion Stylist?

I was always creative and did musical theater throughout high school. After graduating, I was looking for another outlet to channel that creativity. I always loved to shop and coordinate clothes.

When I was about 19, I remember working in a restaurant and someone mentioning that I should be a designer. I knew I couldn't draw to save my life nor was I interested in learning, but was looking for similar careers and ran into styling and the rest is history.

Is fashion important to you? Why?

Fashion is important, but I would say that STYLE makes fashion. Without style, I think fashion would be like a Christmas Tree with no ornaments

What are your successes and how did you achieve them?

My successes are certainly still coming. I remember my first Red Carpet and thinking - Holy Moly!! I suppose successes come from recognition for doing your job well, so I would say every time I am hired for a new job, I consider that a success.

Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing?

The name of the brand is never important to me. It's all about how you wear an outfit and not who made it. Although, never underestimate the statement of a good designer piece!

Describe your personal style of clothing?

I would consider my style to be mostly City Boho but influenced by everything.

How did you find your personal style? Do you have a signature look?

The music I was listening to influenced my style in the early 20s. I was listening to lots of Joplin, Hendrix, and The Beatles while learning about Frida Kahlo, Dali, and Gaudi. I definitely wanted to be a "hippie" and thought that I was born in the wrong generation for a while.

I'm not sure if I have a signature LOOK but I certainly have STAPLES.
- A dark nail (pretty much year-round)
- White flowy dresses in the summer
- Knee-high boots for fall and winter

In what way do you influence other people’s clothing style?

It is my job to influence people's choices in what they wear. It's my job to educate people into what would be the most flattering and stylish look according to their body type and personal style.

What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?

I am loving the direction pants are taking! I love a good trousers moment.
Oh, and Loafers!! Love a loafer!!

What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?

I hate how disposable clothing has gotten! I am watching girls reveal hauls of clothing that I know are going to be in the trash by the end of the season. While the brand is not important, we should invest in quality pieces that will last and become part of our forever closets! I am a big believer in FOREVER PIECES

What kind of fashion advice would you give us?

My fashion advice would be to tailor everything!!! This is going to make a $30 piece look like a $300 piece and completely elevate your wardrobe.

Who is your style icon and why?

Fashion Icons - Bianca Jagger, June Ambrose,  Patti Wilson, Rachel Zoe
These are just a few of my influences in fashion

Is there something else you would like to share with us?

TAILOR TAILOR TAILOR!!!!!!

Thanks, Jenn Rosado, for taking the time to answer my questions. I love your Instagram feed. You have lots of magnificent pictures on it. 😍
