My opinion on two products of the Vichy gamma.

Hi There.....Do you take care of your skin?

I do because I think it is very important but then again I am no spring chicken πŸ˜€

Although I have to say that I started with a day cream when I was a bit before 30.....Some people are starting to see the first signs of aging as soon as in their 20s but it all depends on your skin type and your genes play an important role in this too.

So I occasionally do product testing and recently I got the opportunity to review two products of the Vichy gamma.

Vichy PuretΓ© Thermale 3-in-1

What the product promises to do.....It is cleansing milk, lotion and eye cleaning product all in one. It removes all traces of make-up and impurities in a single step. It is enriched with Captelae, a natural shea butter extract against pollution. It makes your skin feel soft and fresh. Its fluid and velvety non-greasy texture make it suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Sounds like a great product now doesn't it 😊

My own findings of the product are that it does exactly what it promises to do. I myself have very sensitive skin so I have to be careful when choosing products to cleanse my skin. But this 3 in 1 product is so easy to use and it makes your skin feel nice and soft. The only negative.....that is actually a positive for most but not for me is that it puts a kind of layer on your skin and it prevents the special salve that I need for my Rosacea to penetrate my skin.

Now now there is no room in my blog for dirty thoughts.....I know what your twisted mind is thinking now but.....Let's keep it clean haha 😜

Vichy Neovadiol Substitutief Complex Day Cream

What the product promises to do.....It is an anti-aging Day Cream for the Dry Skin.....For menopausal women who seek to combat the effects of hormonal relaxation.....Things like loss of density, volume, freshness, and radiance. It has a non-greasy melting texture.....It recovers the vitality and density of the skin.....Restructures the volume and restores natural luminosity.

This is what every (ancient) woman.....or man would want.....Is it not πŸ˜‰

Since I have Rosacea and I am getting a bit older I find it hard to find a good day cream that helps my skin and I must say.....no no I want to say this of course.....I am very happy with this cream.  It's a pretty thick cream but it is easily spreadable and absorbed quickly by the skin.....It doesn't make my skin feel greasy and I do have the impression that my skin looks better. Also, my skin is so soft and smooth now .....I just love it. And after having used it for every day the last month the jar is not even halfway.....So it's economical in use too. The only disadvantage for me is that it has a weird smell that I don't like.....But after a minute or 2, it fades away.

Did you know that if there is a constant odorant in a room that our brain starts to perceive it as decreasing over time and it is as if the smell seems to fade.....So if your dog shits in the room for instance and you leave it there for a while, you should get used to the smell.....Or you could just clean it up 😁

Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day

How I got into drawing

Hi There.....Do you have a hobby?
I have several hobbies.....I am a singer in a band, I draw and paint, I am a beader and I am blogger, influencer too πŸ˜€
I actually have been singing and drawing ever since I was a young girl. I used to take my Long Play records.....I know they are ancient just like me.....They would sometimes have the face of the artist on them.....And then I would try to draw them as good as I could.....That would keep me busy for a while.....We did not have tablets or even computers at that time 😁
Later on, when I was about 19 I took classes to improve my drawing skills.....After 3 years I had to quit because I got married and moved to Germany to be with my hubby who was stationed as a soldier over there.....Three hours drive was just a tiny little bit too much to go back and forth for drawing classes πŸ˜‹
After a year he got a transfer and we moved back to Belgium. I was pregnant with my daughter at that time and a year and a half later I gave birth to a son too. So you can imagine that I didn't have very much time left for hobbies.
When my youngest turned 1 I also got myself a job......I had graduated as a laboratory assistant but being in Germany I didn't really feel the urge to go find a job because of the language barrier and also because I planned to get kids early. About 5 years had passed since my graduation and I realized that it might not be the best idea to get back to being a laboratory assistant.....So I decided to find a job in administration.....Also because it would be easier when raising my kids.....So definitely no time for hobbies.....All work and no play... 😭
It was only when my kids were about 6 and 7 that I decided to take up classes for drawing again.....I started with Still life and followed those classes for 2 years. Then I switched to model and portrait drawing for the next 3 years.....Yes I did see a few nude models too 😁
When we moved again I switched schools and changed to landscape drawing. After 3 years I quit there because of a man who paid a bit too much attention to me.....He would often use me as his model without my knowing.....I didn't really like being watched all the time.....And when he even tried to kiss me that was the last straw πŸ˜–
But I did learn a lot after taking so many classes.....So I thought I show you a few of the Ink drawings I made in the last 3 years πŸ˜€

Recipes

Number six on my list is sharing a recipe for something you love to eat or would like to try.....Stack it with pictures of your own and make it comprehensive for people that had no experience with any kind of cooking.

Poems

Number seven on this list is.....If you are good at it of course.....Write a poem. People love good poetry.

Travels

Number eight on my list is that you could share your experiences about your travel destinations. Surely you must have visited some lovely destinations where you took loads of great pictures.....Share the best ones in your blog post.....And tell us a bit about where it was and what you did.....Share your personal thoughts on what you liked or didn't like maybe.

Video

Number nine on this list could be a video you made about something and you would like to share your thoughts on. Maybe you are a musician or you act or anything you would like to show to us.

Lists

Number ten and that is what this blog post is all about.....Make a list of something.....It could be anything.....A list of questions.....A list of your favorite blog sites for instance.....A list of your top travel destinations.....A to-do list.

Always be sure to write in your own style.....Show us who you are in your writing.....
Avoid spelling mistakes by using Grammarly.....If the pictures you used aren't your own.....Don't forget to mention the source.....And most important try to be creative πŸ˜‹

Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day

Where can I find some fun Valentines Day Gifts?

Hi There.....Do you celebrate Valentine?

Maybe you do or maybe you don't.....Or maybe you hate all the hassle around it.....Or who knows you might be thinking.....Who the ..... is Valentine πŸ˜‰

Or should I say Valentinus.....It seems to have been a common name in ancient Roman times. As far as history is concerned there seem to be numerous Saints and various stories connected to this date.

There have been a lot of debates on 2 holy martyrs of the same name.....Priest Valentine of Rome and Bishop Valentine of Terni......Both dating from about the 3th century.

Some say they are 2 separate persons.....Others say there was only one of them.....And then some believe they are one and the same person.

The only thing that is certain from traditions is that Valentino was a good man that blessed young couples and performed miracles of love.

I actually was quite surprised to see that the celebration of this day dates so far back 😦

I found that the oldest "Valentine" that was found dates from the 15th century and was written by a man named Charles duke of OrlΓ©ans written to his wife.....He wrote "Je suis desja d'amour tannΓ© - Ma tres doulce ValentinΓ©e".....Translated that means..... I am already sick of love - My very gentle Valentine.

A bit cheesy if you ask me haha.....But then again maybe that's what it is all about πŸ˜‹

What do I have to know to start beading?

Hi There.....Do you like beadwork?

Most of you know my answer to this question already. Yes I am a beader and you could say that I am a seedbeadaholic πŸ˜‰

If you want to help me get rid of my addiction I would strongly advise against that.....I am too far gone to even be thinking of getting better.....Nah I am good no worries.....Here is some proof of my addiction πŸ˜‹

So you might be wondering how I got started. Due to a lot of health issues and surgeries back in 2007 (If you are curious about this you can read my first blog post about it here) I had to start looking for a new hobby that I could do when resting.....Or sitting on my lazy but 😁

Because of my mobility problems I didn't quite feel like going out and follow workshops on the topic.....Do note that there are a lot of people offering great workshops if you do feel like it 😊

But I am not the one to give you advice on those because as I said it was not for me. So maybe you are a bit like me.....Stuck like glue on your comfy sofa and you still want to learn. My best advice that I can give you is to start searching for tutorials on beading or video's on beading on Youtube or if you are more into books there are a lot of bead stitching books for beginners out there too.

Although I do have a question for you first.....Do you want to start beading for yourself or maybe you want to start up a shop?

If you are not sure about the fact that beading is what you would like to do to get your own shop with beautiful handmade items.....I would strongly advise against it.....No I am not kidding you this time but the market is oversaturated with jewelry shops of all kinds 😞

At first, I started out with these somewhat cheaper beads that I found in Veritas (Belgian shop) from Gutermann

I made a lot of pieces with these beads. And there is nothing wrong with them if you are a starter they are a very good choice. So be sure not to start with the most expensive beads like Miyuki or Toho before you get the hang of it.....On the other hand, don't stock up too much on those cheap beads either because you might not want to use them anymore once you start using the more expensive ones.....The cheaper beads work fine for multi-strand necklaces or spiral ropes but when you want to do loom work, peyote or brick stitch you will notice that they will make your work look uneven and even sloppy πŸ˜’

To start with I also used cheap nylon wire to make my first beadwork creations. They are good to get you started off but I do need to warn you especially about the cheap nylon wire.....It disintegrates in time and after a while, you are left with nothing but parts of a necklace. There are a lot of different sorts of beading wires out there.

Here is a video that can help you get a better idea of what you might want to start with πŸ˜ƒ

I have found that Potomac bead company has a very helpful channel for beginning beaders as well as the more experienced beaders.

Here is another video of them explaining all the kinds of stitches you can use for bead weaving.

I do recommend to be careful not to take on more than you can handle in the beginning. There are a lot of stunning pieces out there that might give you inspiration but Rome wasn't built in a day either.

Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day

Where to find the best Quilt Kits?

Hi There.....Do you like Quilts?

Did you know that today is Visit your Local Quilt Shop Day?

Me neither but I do like to browse through the calendar to see what kind of special day today could be 😊

It seems that Quilt shops aren't getting the attention they deserve. The purpose of this 'Visit your local Quilt shop day' is to give them the recognition they deserve. And to widen the scope Fabric shops of any kind can be part of it too.

I suppose most of you know what a quilt is but for those who don't.....Here is part of the description that I found on Wikipedia

Quilts are textiles with multiple layers that are traditionally made up of three layers of fiber. Mostly they make a patchwork from smaller pieces of fabric, and the pattern and color of these pieces will be important to the design. They usually are quite light with little to no filling which makes them perfect as a blanket for spring or summer.

I have seen a lot of them on hobby fairs and I am always in admiration of the amount of work that goes into making such a quilt 😍

They have been introduced in Europe by the Crusaders in the 12th century as a quilted garment worn under their armor. One of the earliest existing works is the Tristan Quilt that was made around 1360 in Sicily.

They seem very popular in the United States where salvaging small scraps of fabric was a part of life for all households. It was often a communal activity, involving all the women and girls in a family or in a larger community.....But not only women would take part because there are also many historical examples of men participating in these quilt traditions.

Yes, girls don't be surprised.....But I know a few men who have creative hands πŸ˜‰

So how about I give you some inspiration to get quilting yourself and show you some of the materials you can find on Etsy πŸ˜‹

Where can you find vintage board games?

Hi There.....Are you creative?

I am and have always been as long as I can remember. As a kid I used to love drawing, playing music on my block flute and melodica.....When I was a bit older I started to knit and sew all kinds of things for myself or for my dolls.....There were no computers or iPhones to keep us busy.....I was a teenager when we got our first pick-up (record player).....I know what you may be thinking.....Wow this woman is ancient 😁

But did you know that this month is also Hobby Month??

I suppose in even more ancient times people have always had hobbies.....They went swimming, hunting or drew on cave walls.

I am wondering.....No I don't suppose they had bathing suits haha πŸ˜‚

I found on Wikipedia that the word hobby came from 'hobyn' and had the meaning of 'small horse and pony'.

Today there are hundreds of hobbies that can be put in 5 categories such as collecting, making and tinkering, activity participation, liberal arts pursuits, and sports and games.

I think I have done them all.....I used to collect keychains and frogs but don't anymore because after a while I had so many of them that I wanted to put on display, that it became far too much work dusting them off every time 😏

Making and tinkering is something I still do off course.....I make beadwork jewelry and knit.....I am working on a sweater at the moment and I will be sharing a picture of that on my Instagram profile as soon as it's finished (I guess I am gonna need about one more week).....so if you are curious just use this link to my Instagram profile.....I know I would be but I am a Little Miss Nosey I suppose πŸ˜‰

Then there is the activity participation.....Things I have mostly done when being on a holiday like hiking or bike rides.

Like me, some of you might wonder what this liberal arts pursuit could be.....Those are things like singing, acting, juggling, dancing,.....So it seems like I am still doing that as well.....I am the female singer of the band as I told you in my last blog post.

And last but not least sports and games.....I am not a fan of sports anymore because as I said I am ancient but I love playing games on the computer as well as board games.

So I thought I would browse Etsy again to find some vintage board games this time πŸ˜„

Large Wooden Chessboard Box 18.9" x 18.9" with Backgammon

Monopoly board game from the 60s

Dominoes, Domino board game, Vintage board game

Mini Solitaire game made in France

Chess Set Chess Table with Drawers Chess Set

Vintage German Mikado game. Full set

BINGO ~ 1987 ~ by KING

Handcrafted Wooden International Draughts Checkers Set

I used to play a lot of these games and they were a lot of fun.....we sometimes played for hours especially our monopoly games could take a long time before there would be a winner. How about you? Did you or do you play board games?

Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day
