I am no fiber artist but I am super creative, I knit, I sew and I make and design beadwork jewelry. If I would find the time, I would also do a bit of drawing and painting too, but there are just 24 hours in a day.
I may be chronically ill, but I am creative enough to keep myself busy, and it keeps my mind off the pain I have to deal with daily. Writing my blog also keeps me busy and gives me a sense of purpose. Some may call me crazy, but I don't earn any money by blogging. It's just something I love to do.
There are so many wonderful and creative hobbies. Sometimes it takes a while to find the best one for you. I only got into beading at 47 so who knows what I will think of next. It's never too late to try out new things.
By the way, I am still looking for Fashion Influencers with a minimum following of 20.000 to interview on my blog the same way as the Fashion Designers. A few different questions, of course, but I am still trying to find them so if you know of any that would be interested, send them over to me. I will welcome them with open arms or if you have other wonderful ideas, let me know in the comments or send me a message.
Today is not about a traditional fashion designer. She did not really fit in the regular box. But since I make the rules, I am free to break them if I like. I call the shots here on my blog; I am King of the Jungle.
The star on my blog post today is Marci Lebowitz. She is 55 and the owner, chief designer, and creator of Follow The Threads.
What kind of work do you do, or what are you studying to be?
I’m a fashion designer, stylist, and fiber artist. My specialty is spinning funky, flavorful art yarns I make into fiber embellishments worn all over the body.
Is fashion important to you? Why?
Oh my gosh, fashion is everything to me. It has always been since I was a tiny girl. Now I have the courage and strength and ease to create and express in ways that are natural to me, both in my designs and what I wear.
What are your successes and how did you achieve them?
I have so many successes! I’d probably say the biggest is leaving my miserable life behind on the east coast, having the courage to challenge the conditioning they offered me and creating a life and fashion business based 100% on my inner guidance. I am now living up in the redwood forest in central California free of Wi-Fi and surrounded by lots of kindness! That’s an enormous success!
Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing?
I am generally not influenced by brands. What’s important to me is the beauty of the materials, the shape, the textures, and how clothing makes me feel.
Describe your personal style of clothing? How did you find your personal style? Do you have a signature look?
My style found me! I’ve spent so much time shopping for fabrics and clothes for my clients that I would also spend time shopping for myself, discovering what I like.
I would have to say my signature style is super colorful with many layers or all black. I wear fitted leggings in the cooler months with highly textured tops, hats, scarves, and jewelry. I have these great fur-lined black suede winter boots with red laces that I’m especially fond of this year.
When it's warmer, you can find me in well-fitting, colorful, or all-black skirts & dresses, and funky, fitted tops with a bunch of jewelry. Taos brand sandals are my go-to for my feet because they fit my foot really well so I can walk in them in all kinds of terrains.
I’m particularly enamored right now with having great-fitting shoes that are funky and fashionable!
Do you have an influence on other people’s clothing style?
Yes! You can discover how I influence at Instagram @marcilebowitz.shop and my webpage at www.Marcilebowitz.shop.
I love creating for bold and expressive festival-goers, rock stars, and people who love unique fashion expressions!
What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?
Honestly, I don’t follow fashion trends…. I tune in to what I love and follow that no matter what everyone else is wearing and doing.
What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?
Same response as above.
What kind of fashion advice would you give us?
Enjoy yourself. Sit quietly and discover what you like, what intrigues and sparks you. Learn ways to let go of what everyone else is doing or buying to determine if you really want to wear that style. If not, explore the fashion, patterns, and textiles of different eras. Mix and match unusual colors and styles until you find outfits that make you smile, make you stand up tall, and be proud of and enjoy yourself!
Who is your style icon and why?
I love Lady Gaga. She is one of the most expressive, versatile, and aware human beings on the planet. She understands wild fashion, influencing for good and caring. To see someone in the public eye who is sexy and bold and kind and respectful is mind-blowing wonderful!!!
Is there something else you would like to share with us?
It’s important to me that women, in particular, learn to enjoy themselves. To let in goodness and happiness and joy. To allow that to wash over the insecurities and hurt and to allow their most beautiful, natural, easygoing selves to emerge. To become aligned and embodying that both internally in how they feel and externally in their ease with their bodies and fashion.
Spinning on a wheel, that's something you don't see every day anymore. You really should take a look at her website, because she has some great festival outfits.
Hope you like my blog .....Until next time.....Have a nice day

ReplyDeleteI totally get what you mean about being creative, but not having enough hours in the day. There are so many creative things I would pick up, butI just don't have the time. I like putting a lot of my free time in to my blog xx
