I sure hope so, but first I have some more questions for you. Have you ever been on a motorcycle? Do you like motorcycle gear?

I have never been on a motorcycle ride, but I have been on the back of a scooter when I was a young girl. One of my closest friends had a scooter, and she once asked me to go with her. I was terrified, but I didn't want her to think I didn't trust her, so I agreed. π
We had only driven 2 streets when she halted. Hey, she said, you need to lean over with me when we take turns. I looked at her puzzled, thinking what on earth is she talking about. Then she explained that when she takes a curve, we both have to lean to the same side. π
It was daunting at first, but before I knew it, I was having fun. There was one thing I knew for certain, and that was that there was no way I would tell my mom and dad about my first ride. She agreed to keep it a secret because she knew my parents would freak out if they knew. It wasn't like me to keep secrets from them, but sometimes you just have to for your own good. π
But maybe I should introduce you to the star on my blog post for today. Karleen Eberle is the 35-year-old Fashion Designer and CEO of Raven Rova, a business in women’s motorcycle gear. π
What kind of work do you do, or what are you studying to be?
I empower women through fashion. Women come to Raven Rova for gear that makes them look and feel powerful.
Is fashion important to you? Why?
Yes. Our clothing is our armor, it gives us confidence and a sense of self. Empowering women to be their best selves is the fuel to my fire. With motorcycle gear, I am literally giving my clients a life-changing piece.
What are your successes and how did you achieve them?
Surviving and healing from a motorcycle crash in 2019 have been major. Two days after our crowdfunding campaign launched, I was in a hit-and-run accident.
I had a fractured vertebra and was in a neck brace for 2 months. I was ready to give up. The community of women riders kept Raven Rova going with their support.
Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing?
My decision is motivated by the brand ethos and quality; not purely the name. I am a loyal brand enthusiast for athletic performance clothing. I also trust certain brands for lingerie or high-quality leather materials.
Describe your personal style of clothing?
Quality over quantity. Either all black or bold colors with a healthy dose of gorgeous prints. You can never have too many accessories. I also design and dye textiles, which I wear often.
How did you find your personal style? Do you have a signature look?
Having lived in NYC, LA, SF, and Oakland, I have been influenced by many cultures. A woman of color dressed in monochrome from head to toe is the most beautiful, bold statement to me. These women inspire me with their confident bearing and poise.
Vibrant colors or slinky black are my signatures. I’m tall and play off my height with high-waisted pants, belts, and balanced proportions.
Do you have an influence on other people’s clothing style?
I think so; I help people style and customize their clothes to accentuate their bodies. My friends do this for me too. So, I believe it’s a cyclical influence.
What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?
Day dresses at home are brilliant. In love with the tie-dye trend! Coordinated masks, of course!
What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?
cropped jeans.
sweat pants in public.
What kind of fashion advice would you give us?
Be yourself. Learn to dress YOUR body. Don’t compare yourself or your body to other people or models. Learn to take your measurements and ask for help sizing your clothes. That number on the tag does not matter. How it fits, how you feel- that matters.
Who is your style icon and why?
Stevie Nicks. She has the most unique sense of style. Rhianna. Constantly reinventing herself. They both are feminine and powerful without apology.
Is there something else you would like to share with us?
Take fashion risks! You’ve got one life, put on that daring piece in your closet any day of the week.

OMG a motorcycle accident? That's nuts! My boss set up his business from his hospital bed after having a motorcycle accident!

I love interview posts like this! It's great getting to know the person... the last point though, take fashion risks! A great piece advice really, wear what you want and just be yourself really. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHeel erg leuk interview. Ook super dat ze zelf haar outfits ontwerpt. En stoere foto's!
