Where can I find some cool handmade pants for this summer?

Hi There..... How are things going over there?

Here in Belgium, we are taking baby steps to a new way of living with a gradual exit strategy..... We have been in lockdown for quite a while now..... I couldn't even remember how long it was..... So I looked it up and it seems that our lockdown started on the 18th of March..... But we have always been allowed to go outside still to do our groceries..... Or for taking walks, a run or other sports in the parc keeping the 1.5m distance in mind of course 😷

So far only the grocery shops, fabric shops, do-it-yourself, and garden shops were open for business..... Starting Monday all the other shops will be opening their doors again..... But I am not crazy enough to go shopping already..... A little crazy maybe but not that crazy 😂

It feels kinda weird though..... When someone in the supermarket wants to be in the same aisle as you..... They look at you in a way as if you could be their killer..... I am not sure yet if I like it..... In a way, it is pretty badass having people be scared of you..... Renata the Ripper..... Doesn't sound that bad 😁

But then again, who is the scaredy-cat..... Me, I suppose..... I am the one staying away from the brave shoppers next week 😅😂

Although I probably won't be the only one..... Some people will agree that it's just common sense.....That's why I thought I would bring the stores to you other scaredy cats..... And show you a few handmade summer trousers from my beloved Etsy site 😄

Are you new at beading? Start beading with this Free Peyote Triangle Pattern

Hi There.....Have you ever done beadwork?

I have done quite a lot..... And I still have to do a lot..... You may be thinking..... Why? Simple because I have a closet full of beads..... Those little buggers are so very addictive 🙃

But I thought to myself..... Why on earth should I go through this alone..... Why not rub it off on a few others here..... That's an evil plan, I know..... But I just can't help it..... I blame my mom and dad..... They are the ones that made me..... I had no say in it 😈

So if you are a bit like me..... Evil..... Come and join me in spreading this addiction..... And start by trying out this pattern to make this Magical Triangle 😋

Here is an example of what we will be making

Pattern Peyote Triangle

I always use Toho or Miyuki Delica beads because, in my opinion, they get the best results..... To make it easy it is best to work with 2 different colors of beads..... We will call them A and B

Step 1

On a comfortable length of thread pick up 3 beads A and go through them again to make a ring as shown on the drawing below

Afbeelding2.png

Step 2

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead. I have made the beads from the previous drawing light grey and the newly added beads black.

Step 3

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead.

Step 4

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead.

Step 5

Now we need to step up to the next round by going through the first A bead added in step 2.

Step 6

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead.

Step 7

Pick up one bead B and go through the next A bead. From here on the newly added B beads will be red and the ones from previous rounds will be pink.

Step 8

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead.

Step 9

Pick up one bead B and go through the next A bead.

Step 10

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead.

Step 11

Pick up one bead B and go through the next A bead.

Step 12

Step up to the next round as you did in step 5

Step 13

Pick up 2 beads A and go through the next A bead.

Step 14

We will add 2 beads B instead of one now.

Step 15

Repeat this for the rest of this round and step up to the next round as you did before

Step 16

In the next round we will add 3 beads B instead of 2 and so on

Step 17

You can make it as big as you want - to end it you make a round by just adding one bead A on the 3 corners.
There is a lot you can do with these..... You can make them into earrings or make several triangles and put them together to make a bracelet 😃
But was is most important is that you have fun making them..... Show me yours when you finished it..... Your triangle of course 😁
One more thing..... Don't come crying to me if you get addicted..... I did warn you 🤣🤣
Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day

DIY How can I make a 2 drop peyote bracelet?

Hi There.....Are you creative?

I am way too creative for my own good.....There is not enough time for me to do all the things I love to do.

At the moment I am most into beading and since I haven't done so before.....I thought this might be a great time to share a beading pattern with you 😊

Pattern 2 drop peyote (18 cm or 7.09 inch)

It is best to use Toho or Miyuki beads size 11 to get the best results

You'll need a slide clasp that is approximately the same width, or slightly more narrow than your bracelet band.

  1. Pick up a bead and go through it again to make a knot. This will be your stop bead.

  2. Pick up another 11 beads so that you have 12 in total (stop bead included).
This will be your first row, and you now are starting your second row.

  3. Pick up 2 beads and pass your needle through the 3rd and 4th bead of the first row.

  4. Pick up 2 beads and pass your needle through the 7th and 8th bead of the first row. Pick up 2 beads and pass your needle through the 11th and 12th bead of the first row (as shown on the image below).
  5. The second row is ready now and you are starting the 3rd row now.

  6. Pick up 2 beads and pass your needle through the 3rd and 4th bead of the second row.

  7. Pick up 2 beads and pass your needle through the 7th and 8th bead of the second row.

  8. Pick up 2 beads and pass your needle through the 11th and 12th bead of the second row. (as shown in the image below).
  9. Repeat this pattern until you have a length of 16.5 cm or 6.50 inch. Make sure to always pull tight your wire to get nice and even beadwork.

  10. Attach the slide clasp by picking up 2 beads and pass through the first metal ring on the clasp from front to back. Pick up another 2 beads and pass through the 3rd and 4th bead of your end row (as shown on the image below).
  11. Pick up 2 beads and go through the second metal ring on the clasp from front to back.

  12. Pick up another 2 beads and pass through the 7th and 8th bead of your end row.

  13. Pick up 2 beads and go through the third metal ring on the clasp from front to back.

  14. Pick up another 2 beads and pass through the 11th and 12th bead of your end row.
Make sure to pull your wire tight to make the closure fit tight. (as shown in the image below).
  15. Pass through these last beads and metal rings again in the opposite direction to make sure the thread is secure.

  16. Attach the clasp on the other end the same way you did on the first end of the bracelet.
And finished.....It's that simple 😋

What do I have to know to start beading?

Hi There.....Do you like beadwork?

Most of you know my answer to this question already. Yes I am a beader and you could say that I am a seedbeadaholic 😉

If you want to help me get rid of my addiction I would strongly advise against that.....I am too far gone to even be thinking of getting better.....Nah I am good no worries.....Here is some proof of my addiction 😋

So you might be wondering how I got started. Due to a lot of health issues and surgeries back in 2007 (If you are curious about this you can read my first blog post about it here) I had to start looking for a new hobby that I could do when resting.....Or sitting on my lazy but 😁

Because of my mobility problems I didn't quite feel like going out and follow workshops on the topic.....Do note that there are a lot of people offering great workshops if you do feel like it 😊

But I am not the one to give you advice on those because as I said it was not for me. So maybe you are a bit like me.....Stuck like glue on your comfy sofa and you still want to learn. My best advice that I can give you is to start searching for tutorials on beading or video's on beading on Youtube or if you are more into books there are a lot of bead stitching books for beginners out there too.

Although I do have a question for you first.....Do you want to start beading for yourself or maybe you want to start up a shop?

If you are not sure about the fact that beading is what you would like to do to get your own shop with beautiful handmade items.....I would strongly advise against it.....No I am not kidding you this time but the market is oversaturated with jewelry shops of all kinds 😞

At first, I started out with these somewhat cheaper beads that I found in Veritas (Belgian shop) from Gutermann

I made a lot of pieces with these beads. And there is nothing wrong with them if you are a starter they are a very good choice. So be sure not to start with the most expensive beads like Miyuki or Toho before you get the hang of it.....On the other hand, don't stock up too much on those cheap beads either because you might not want to use them anymore once you start using the more expensive ones.....The cheaper beads work fine for multi-strand necklaces or spiral ropes but when you want to do loom work, peyote or brick stitch you will notice that they will make your work look uneven and even sloppy 😒

To start with I also used cheap nylon wire to make my first beadwork creations. They are good to get you started off but I do need to warn you especially about the cheap nylon wire.....It disintegrates in time and after a while, you are left with nothing but parts of a necklace. There are a lot of different sorts of beading wires out there.

Here is a video that can help you get a better idea of what you might want to start with 😃

I have found that Potomac bead company has a very helpful channel for beginning beaders as well as the more experienced beaders.

Here is another video of them explaining all the kinds of stitches you can use for bead weaving.

I do recommend to be careful not to take on more than you can handle in the beginning. There are a lot of stunning pieces out there that might give you inspiration but Rome wasn't built in a day either.

Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day

Where to find the best Quilt Kits?

Hi There.....Do you like Quilts?

Did you know that today is Visit your Local Quilt Shop Day?

Me neither but I do like to browse through the calendar to see what kind of special day today could be 😊

It seems that Quilt shops aren't getting the attention they deserve. The purpose of this 'Visit your local Quilt shop day' is to give them the recognition they deserve. And to widen the scope Fabric shops of any kind can be part of it too.

I suppose most of you know what a quilt is but for those who don't.....Here is part of the description that I found on Wikipedia

Quilts are textiles with multiple layers that are traditionally made up of three layers of fiber. Mostly they make a patchwork from smaller pieces of fabric, and the pattern and color of these pieces will be important to the design. They usually are quite light with little to no filling which makes them perfect as a blanket for spring or summer.

I have seen a lot of them on hobby fairs and I am always in admiration of the amount of work that goes into making such a quilt 😍

They have been introduced in Europe by the Crusaders in the 12th century as a quilted garment worn under their armor. One of the earliest existing works is the Tristan Quilt that was made around 1360 in Sicily.

They seem very popular in the United States where salvaging small scraps of fabric was a part of life for all households. It was often a communal activity, involving all the women and girls in a family or in a larger community.....But not only women would take part because there are also many historical examples of men participating in these quilt traditions.

Yes, girls don't be surprised.....But I know a few men who have creative hands 😉

So how about I give you some inspiration to get quilting yourself and show you some of the materials you can find on Etsy 😋

How to stand out on a special occasion or wedding

Hi There.....have you had enough of all that cheap jewelry you see everybody walking around with?

Wouldn't you rather stand out with a very special piece of jewelry?

Well no need to look any further cause I have some beautiful pieces I want to show you 😁

Recently someone made a remark on my blog post that my title was not catchy at all. Well, it was anonymous but I still thought ok let's see if I can find a way to improve myself. So if you are reading this now.....what do you think is my title better now?

I am actually happy to get that kind of remarks cause I am always looking to improve myself or maybe I am just a bit crazy or who knows it might be both or there is another option I might be crazy not to take on any advice I get 😏

Did you know that there are many cultures that use jewelry to ward off evil? So if you don't own any it is time for you to buy some.....no time like the present 😁

Ok, let's see if I can find other reasons to get you past that threshold.

Did you know that making jewelry to me is more than just a passion? It is actually some kind of therapy for me ass well. I have a lot of joint problems as some of you know but what most of you might not know is that even though I take a lot of painkillers I still have to deal with pain on a daily basis. Making jewelry takes my mind off that pain and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Ok, enough now I have tested your patience long enough.....let me show you some of my own handmade beadwork jewelry

Hope you like my blog post.....Until next time.....Have a great day

Seadbeady's Finds on Etsy - 10

Hi There.....Do you have kids?

So do you celebrate the days leading up to 5 or 6 December?

We do here in Belgium mostly on the morning of the 6th of December. I know it is pretty soon to be talking about this but it won't be long before he arrives here on the steamboat. It seems like he is coming earlier every year.

Last year was the first time we set up presents for our granddaughter who was about 2.5 years old then. We had her sleepover a few days before the 6th and it was so much fun to see her so surprised that on the spot she had put her small boot there were gifts now too. Not sure if they even were for her 😊

I still remember those moments when I was a kid although it is a long time ago. I even found a picture of me and my both sisters on the morning of Saint Nicholas. I am the one in front of the picture reaching out to the chocolate figurine.

Aren't we the cutest haha 😉

So I thought why not show you some of the handmade toys you can find on Etsy.....better sooner than later right. And why not on a budget maybe so I chose to select everything beneath 30 Euro.

Magical, Mythical, Story Stones, Set, Storytelling Stones
