Interview with Fashion Designer Desireé Marie Singletary

Hi There..... Have you always looked up to High-End Fashion Designers?

I couldn't afford their clothing when I was a young girl but have always been a fan of the Dolce & Gabbana fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. No, not of them personally. I have never met them, but I'm a fan of their clothing. 😍

Not that I could ever dream of asking them for an interview on my blog. Oh my, that is something I can only dream of. They make the most amazing garments. I really love how colorful their clothing is. Ah, too many people hide away behind black and grey. The world needs more color, if you ask me. 😉

This is only my second fashion designer interview, but who knows the designers I feature may get famous one day too. Everyone has to start somewhere, and what better way than being the next star on my blog? 😍

The designer I am featuring today is Desireé Marie Singletary. She is the 30-year-old owner and Designer for Desireé Marie Design. 


What kind of work do you do, or what are you studying to be?

Bridal design, bespoke pieces

Is fashion important to you? Why? 

Yes, fashion helped me become more confident, and it is fun! I want to bring this experience to every bride/client I work with. 

What are your successes and how did you achieve them?

I felt pretty successful after completing a bride's custom gown and 5 custom vests for her groomsmen. 
I achieved this by managing my time and working closely with my clients. I also received Austin’s Best In Style from Austin Wedding Day Style Magazine in 2017 and 2018. 
I did this by working with the magazine and getting published several times within those years. 

Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing?

No, I did not grow up rich, so I and my mom would always argue about brand names, and I eventually learned that fashion is more about expressing yourself, not advertising a brand you love. 
So I began shopping at the thrift stores with her for all my clothing, and eventually was altering the pieces, and this led to taking fashion classes and the start of my fashion journey. 

Describe your personal style of clothing?

Eclectic. I love all eras of fashion, and I enjoy experimenting with new trends and old ones. At the moment, I am into boho and 70s trends. 

How did you find your personal style? Do you have a signature look? 

I would define my personal style as fashionable and preppy. I say fashionable because I am mainly influenced by fashion influencers or even movies. Preppy because my looks are usually bright, fun, and feminine. 

Do you have an influence on other people’s clothing style?

Yes, I am a stylist as well for Stitch Fix, so I am sending clothing and accessories to people every day.

What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?

I believe the best trends at the moment are colorful wedding dresses and embroidery on wedding dresses.

What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?

Underwear thongs showing or underwear thongs being part of a dress.

What kind of fashion advice would you give us?

Just to have fun! Stop worrying about what people will think and think about how fashion makes you feel! 

Who is your style icon and why?

Liz Cherkasova from Late Afternoon style blog. I have been following her for 10 years! Back when fashion blogs first came out! 😮

Is there something else you would like to share with us?

I work with brides to create their dream dress! We work one-on-one sketching, picking out fabrics, and designing your one-of-a-kind look. I also love to work with brides who already have their gown and we can alter it to fit you perfectly or add custom changes.

Where to find a gorgeous luxury fashion mask - Vanity Couture Designer Face Masks

Hi There..... Do you like to wear masks? Would you rather wear a luxury fashion mask or a clinical one?

Not that I like it that much, but it seems like we will still have to wear a face mask for a while. If we have to, then at least I would rather have designer face masks. How about you? 😊

I was wondering, have you ever been to a masked ball?

I have, but it is such a long time ago. I don’t think I told you before, but I took dancing classes from the age of 18 to 22. 💃

I learned classic ballroom dances like the cha-cha, tango, jive, samba, quickstep, rumba, and lots more. Oh, you would have liked to dance with me because I had some moves in me. 😎

We would have lessons twice a week. On Saturday, the dance school held dance evening for couples and on Sunday dance evening for the younger people mixed with disco, French cancan, Cowboy dance, La Bamba and so on. 💃

I loved those Sunday evenings, not just for the dancing, but there were quite a few cute guys on that dancing floor too. I may have been shy, but I got invited to dance more than once. Ah yes, that was way before my wrinkles showed. 😏

The school also organized special evenings from time to time, like a New Year’s eve ball or a masked ball. I didn’t have that much pocket money, so I had to get creative. One time, I remember I made the costume myself from scratch. 😊

I used a black T-shirt with a V-neck and cut off the bottom. I had bought myself some fairly cheap fabric and made a layered skirt out of it. I can still see the fabric in my mind. It was blue with large black dots. Then I attached the black T-shirt to the skirt and that would be my flamenco dress. 😃

After I had finished that, I also made 2 large hoop earrings and a ribbon for my hair. In the shop, I bought myself a black spray to make my hair totally black. I put on some blue eyeshadow and borrowed a red lipstick from my mom to make that last touch. I was going to make an impression, if not on the dancefloor, I would in the La Bamba kissing the guys with my red lipstick. 😁

Ok, enough about me. Let's talk some more about that gorgeous luxury fashion mask I was talking about. Or should I say masks? Vanity Couture sent me these 3 beautiful designer face masks in exchange for my honest review. 😍

They make this gorgeous sparkly mask from glitter knit fabric. It has 3 layers and there is a special pocket for the filter you get with the mask. What I find especially handy are the ear loops with which you can make it fit perfectly, and they are nice and soft. I paired it with a red blouse to get a warm look. 😄


Both the golden and this silver sparkly glitter face mask have a black organic lining to avoid make-up stains. Depending on how the light falls in this mask gets a blue or pink shine on it. I just love that and I can imagine it working great under the black lights of a discotheque. Or maybe this year, in a smaller circle, under the lights of the Christmas tree. 🎄


They embellished this amazing mask with Swarovski crystal rhinestones. The premium high thread-count cotton inner lining makes it perfectly breathable. They made ribbons of satin on this mask.
All 3 masks cover the nose and chin perfectly, as it should, and they feel really comfortable. 😃

Vanity Couture Unfortunately got hit hard by the pandemic. It plummeted their custom orders and really diminished sales, so they were forced to pivot. Not only did they create The Peoples Mask Corp, supplying civilians with face masks since April, but they also ventured into clothing. 😊

They just launched their Embellished velvet luxury loungewear collection and got a lot of responses already. Seeing as how staying home, working from home, and living in comfortable attire has become the new norm they wanted to still give women the opportunity to feel chic and glam without sacrificing the desire to be cozy. 😋

The Best Highlighter Makeup - How To Make Your Skin Glow with Jolie Beauty

Hi There..... Do you like to make your skin glow? Do you like to use highlighter makeup? Are you going to celebrate Christmas and New Year soon? 

Sooo many questions. I suppose most of you are going to celebrate. 😃

Unlike most years, we are celebrating Christmas with just the two of us. Ordinarily, we would celebrate with our children, but the government voted against it. Thank you so very much for that. 😛

Maybe I should just sing a Christmas Carol to get us in the mood for celebrating, put on some make-up with eyeshadow and some highlighter. Haha, I can picture my husband’s face if I do that. He would think I am losing my mind, but you have to own one to lose one. 😂

I have always been a fan of Christmas songs though, not sure why, but I always loved singing them. When I was in the choir about 10 years ago, we used to practice them before Christmas to sing at parties or masses. 😊

That reminds me of the time we were singing in the mass of the elderly home. We had been singing happily for about half an hour when there was a loud bang. You can never guess what happened. 😏

A resident seemed to have fallen asleep, and the book on her lap fell to the ground. It gave us quite a scare and everyone was wide awake again. At least they were listening again now. Nothing is as bad as performing when nobody listens. Or maybe there is one thing worse. Not being allowed to perform because of a stupid virus. 😁

I will be glad when all this is behind us. Who knows, maybe in 10 years’ time we will look back and wish we could press pause again. Or for all I know, you may wish you could still have time to read my blog posts and all my stories. 

I sometimes wonder if I will still be able to think of stories, or perhaps I might start telling the old ones again because I forgot that I already told them to you. If that happens, you just have to let me know. 😂

The end of another story and time for some more jolly matters. Or maybe I should say Jolie. What? Have you never heard of Jolie Beauty? Oh my, you have got to be kidding me. 😨

Haha, now I was kidding you because I hadn’t heard about them before, but I am so glad that I discovered this brand. They have the most amazing highlighter makeup. First, let me tell you a bit more about them. 😍

This Brand from the UK is the brainchild of a team of experienced makeup artists, and they have worked with some renowned Beauty Brands such as Mac, Clinique, Sephora,... They believe that make-up artists should have the choice to pick both unique and high performing products. 😊

What does their website say about these highlighters? They provide a natural yet eye-catching skin glow. You may be curious to know what I thought about these highlighters. That's a bit of a problem because I still haven't decided which of those two I love the most. Then again, I don't really need to choose because I now have them both. I was a bit anxious at first because I didn't know if I would get it right. Such a great channel with such a simple explanation on how to use their make-up. You really are going to have to check it out. 

And here is my look after using the highlighters. I only used them on my cheekbones, but you can put them on your nose, your forehead, your chin or even in your cleavage.


On my left cheek (on the right if you look at the picture) I used the Saintly shade. It gives you a really fresh glow.


On my right cheek, I used the Dreaming shade. It is a little darker, but just as pretty if you ask me. And they both give you an amazing but subtle glow. 


Can you see the difference? One thing is for sure: when the Coronavirus is under control and I can get back to performing with my band, I am going to use one of these highlighters. Maybe you can choose for me. Let me know in the comments which one you like best.

Review about the JouwBox 11 - Face Cleanser and Eye Cream for Dark Circles

Hi There..... Do you like natural health products? Would you like to know more about a Face Cleanser? Or maybe about an Eye Cream for dark circles?

Have you been clinging to your screen and waiting for my next review on the natural products from my JouwBox? I know, I am sorry to have kept you waiting so long. 😏

If you are waiting, time can pass by really slow. I have done my share of waiting in my life, but some of it is my fault. I have the unpleasant habit of always wanting to be early for an appointment. 😯

You can never do too much on your Instagram if you want to get likes you have to give likes. I would hate it if I kept giving someone likes and they would not return any. 😈

Unless it’s some hopeless guy looking for love. I have learned not to return those likes anymore because they always want more. I don’t get it Instagram is no dating app as far as I know, and I am not looking for love just likes and comments. 😂

I must admit I learned the hard way. Some guy made a profile named Keanu Reeves. He is one of my favorite actors, so I responded when he sent me a private message. He told me he had no friends in actual life that he could talk to, so I kinda felt sorry for him. 😢

It was really exciting thinking I was really talking to the great actor himself. At least that’s what I thought until after a few days of chatting he asked me to help him. He said he needed my help for some kind of charity. Not that I am against charity, but I thought it weird that someone like him would have to pursue people to give to a good cause. 😲

That made me suspicious, but what made it even more suspicious was when he suggested that I talk to a woman who was in charge of it all. I blocked him, but he keeps following me with new Keanu Reeves’ accounts. The only difference is that I don’t respond anymore. By the way, Keanu, if you are reading this so sorry, I blocked you. 😄

Let's get round to some more important things like the face cleanser and eye cream for dark circles from my Jouwbox that I was telling you about.

I was really excited to try out this one because I love the scent of coconut. I didn't really get that much coconut scent from washing my face with it, but it was a very pleasant scent. Interview with Fashion Designer Batool

Hi There..... Do you like Interviews? Would you like to see a few interviews starring people from the Fashion Industry?

You know, I have seen a lot of Interviews pass by from reading other blogs. Even more so, other bloggers have interviewed me too. That got me thinking. Oh yes, I can still think clearly from time to time. 😁

What if I would make my own questions to interview fashion designers and make a blog post on that? The only thing left to do would be to find those stars from the fashion industry to fill in those questions. And believe it or not, I found a few already. This could be a start of hopefully something to last for a while. If I can keep finding new people willing to be a star for one day on my blog. 😄

I am the lead designer for BeReal Wear, and design the Brand’s collections inline with our brand values.

Is fashion important to you? Why?

Fashion is important in our society because it has the potential to bring different individuals together and celebrate their own individuality. 
Our Activewear is for everyone who wants to be unique and be real. Because we truly believe everyone is exceptional in their own way, and our clothing brand represents that. 

What are your successes?

Our base is in London, and we have a presence in New York as well. We are getting a significant response and will introduce online free workout classes on our IG @bereal wear, so everyone can benefit from them in the comfort of their own home.

Clothing is the best way to express yourself, wear something that reflects who you are. We believe our true self is who we really are when we let go of all the stories, labels, and judgments that we have placed upon ourselves. It is who we naturally are without the masks and pretentiousness.

What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?

Go with trends that make you feel comfortable and reflect who you are.

What are in your eyes the worst trends at the moment?

Anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.

What kind of fashion advice would you give us?

My fashion advice would be 'Be Yourself, be Real … You are enough'

There are many.

Our brand is an activewear brand. We have designs that are comfortable for workouts and even comfortable for lounging around or working from home.

Review about the JouwBox 11 - Natural Health Products to Take Care of Yourself

Hi There….. Do you like to take care of yourself? Do you like natural health products?

I love natural health products and I just have to take care of myself. Can you imagine the lead singer of a band not taking care of herself? Our band is on hold now. We lived on the second floor, and there was a balcony where T.C. (from Top Cat), would love to chill. From time to time, he ventured out and hopped on the roof below to get in the gardens from our neighbors. This time, however, the roof below was slippery and I could see him sliding down from it. The thought of him not getting back up to us made me cry. 😭

Nobody understood as far as I can recall. I remember saying he is like a member of the family for me. My mom, dad, and sisters all laughed at me, but all I could do was weep. I felt so bad for our cat. What if he couldn’t make it up again? 😨

I kept staring at the window, waiting for him to come back. After some failed attempts and a few loud meows, he succeeded to get back home. What a relief, I was so happy that I cried. Aha, I warned you I was a crybaby. 😁

Hight time to talk about more important things. I promised you some more reviews about the items out of my JouwBox.

I was most curious about these brush mints because I have never seen or tried anything like it. Maybe I was a bit skeptical, after all, I have been brushing my teeth with toothpaste for a million years and my teeth are important to me. 😬

The first attempt wasn't that good because I didn't crush them enough and I was not foaming from my mouth. But the next time I went full force, and it worked. Where to find the Best Breathable Graphic T-shirts - Ferrisbuilt

Hi There..... Are you looking for some great Graphic T-shirts? Would you like breathable T-shirts, maybe? 

Ah, perhaps you do, but first, there is something I have to get off my chest about this Coronavirus Pandemic. 😞

If you ask me, things are getting out of hand here in Belgium. Earlier this week they were saying on the news that the police are thinking about using drones to make sure there aren’t any group gatherings in the people’s backyards. Politicians were debating about adjusting the law of privacy on this matter. 😲

Hard to believe, right? What will they think of next? Maybe we should all wear uniforms too, just like we did in school. Well, if you went to a Catholic School as I did. 😇

I may have gone to a Catholic School, but they never made me a believer. Must have been because my mom and dad were non-believers too. We never told our teachers that though, and the principal didn’t have to know either. 😁

It was our little secret, so we didn’t tell anyone, not even our classmates, except for just a select few, maybe. Going to school there did make me tolerant, probably to all kinds of religions. I think everybody should be free to follow their faith as long as they don’t force it onto others. 😀

Ah, I know what you are thinking right now. So weird for a nonbeliever to go to a Catholic School? 😦

Where we lived, back then, the standard of education was just better than it was in the Municipal School. There were no boys there, so no destructive influence from them either. My dad wasn’t unhappy with that because he liked his girls to grow up well-behaved. 😎

Except for a few swears from time to time, and even though I heard them say that about those drones made me want to go out and kill a few of those law enforcers. I didn’t do any of those things so safe to say I am still well-behaved. 😇

This Coronavirus Pandemic is bringing out the worst in us, though. If we could only be free from this annoying virus. Free from all the restrictions and just be able to breathe in the surrounding air without fear of getting infected. Going to the park without a mask on our faces. 😷

If you like to know what I thought. I was very happy with it and it felt comfortable too. You can feel that the fabric is soft and of fine quality. It was also exactly as described and I really love the color, especially because I chose it myself. 😃

Lindsey Ferris, who is the founder of Ferrisbuilt, lives in Seattle, Washington with her identical twin daughters. She lost her 12-year-old company because of Covid in the spring of 2020 (an event production company) and had to figure out a way to pivot and make a living when the industry that she had worked in her entire 25+ career shut down. As a single parent, this was a bit scary! 😯

She pursued her creative side in July 2020 and wanted to see if she could make a go of her wood art and t-shirt designs she had been doing as a "side hustle" for a few years - and figured "why not now?" Her motivation was to still be a business owner as she enjoys that challenge, with a work schedule that she could still have enough time to spend with her kids. 😊

Her apparel is a way to express things she feels strongly about, and her wood art would be something she could create in her woodshop. Her girls often get involved with ideas and they enjoy creating as a family. 😄

Losing your business in such a way is something nobody wants to go through. I respect what she did. That couldn't have been a straightforward decision. But if I look at her shop, I think she did an outstanding job. I love the vibe of her shop and her collections. 😍

Review about the Jouwbox - Christmas Edition Gift Box - Natural health products

Hi There..... Did you ever receive a gift box filled with natural products? Do you love natural health products? Did you ever receive the 'Jouwbox'?

I did, and I also received a lot of gifts in a box when I was a young girl. My dad really loved to tease me and my 2 sisters. He was pretty cunning in doing so too. I remember one time in specific. 😊

It was almost time for Christmas, and our dad had asked us to wrap a few gifts for New-year's eve already. He loved to tease his sisters and brothers too, and we were keen when he asked us to help him. 😋

We had so much fun wrapping up those gifts for our aunts and uncles. We didn't know what was in those packages because he had put a few papers around them at first. He said that would be best because we might spill the secret otherwise. We would wrap them up in many sheets of newspaper and he said he would add the gift wrapping paper to them later. 😃 

A few days later, on Christmas evening, it was time to unwrap the gifts we got from our mom and dad. We knew he would trick us, but we never knew what to expect. As soon as we tore off that first sheet of gift wrapping paper, we realized what he had done. He had let us all wrap our own gifts, and now we had to unwrap them ourselves. Now he and our mom were the ones having all the fun. 😁

Ah, I know you are still waiting to see what's in my 'JouwBox' that I talked about at the beginning of this blog post. Have a look at all the goodies I received in exchange for my honest opinion. 

This time Ralph Moorman & Juglen Zwaan teamed up to compose a very special Christmas edition. 😍


They filled the box with 11 natural health products worth 140 euro, but you can get it for just 49.95 euro. If you however decide to become a member (a box every 3 months) you get the box for just 39.95 euro. That's quite a bargain, isn't it, but if you want the Christmas edition, you really have to hurry because there aren't a lot of boxes left.  😍

Just like last time, I am going to split those up over several blog posts because I want all the products to get the necessary attention. Today's review will be about the last 2 products I just mentioned. 

Tea By Me - Anne Bloemig

Let me tell you a bit more about the tea and what their website says about this Dutch Tea - Anne Bloemig from Tea By Me. 

It is locally grown, directly produced: clean, sustainable, fresh, and fair.

Tea By Me produces black tea, green tea, white tea… Whatever your favorite flavor, they are all made from the leaves of one tea plant: Camellia Sinensis.

Tea plant grower Johan was the first in Europe to succeed in growing the Camellia Sinensis locally. Tea maker Anne makes delicious fresh quality tea with these tea leaves from Dutch soil. Green tea, full of positive properties that promote overall health. Back to basics with the power of mother nature.

Their tea leaves are fresher than fresh so that the tea retains all its good qualities. Grown and produced locally - from plant to tea glass: transparent to everyone.


I did wonder what kind of tea it would be because it is hard to tell looking at the box. After a closer look, I could find that it is green tea. I have tried a lot of green tea but am not a fan of drinking this tea plain because the taste is a bit too herbal for me. However, a pinch of lemon made it more than ok. However, if you are a fan of green tea and love the taste of herbs then this tea could be perfect for you without adding lemon.

Het Blauwe Huis - Ceylon Cinnamon

The other product I tried was the Ceylon cinnamon. What does their website say about this cinnamon from Het Blauwe Huis. 

Cinnamon powder is the finely ground inner bark of the shoots of the cinnamon tree. This spice is delicious as a seasoning in sweet dishes such as apple sauce, biscuits, and pastries.

I tried out the cinnamon in a very easy and fast recipe of oatmeal porridge. All you need is half an apple, a bag of oatmeal express (I use the one from Quaker), a handful of raisins, a teaspoon of brown sugar, milk, and cinnamon. 

peel and core the apple and cut it into cubes. Throw in the content of the oatmeal bag and fill the bag with milk to the bar. Pour the milk on top of the apple and oatmeal and put some raisins on top and the sugar. Add just a few pinches of the cinnamon. Heat in the microwave for 2 minutes and let it cool down for about a minute. Nothing more to it. 


It's a fast and easy breakfast and healthy too. Oats are whole grain and a good source of fiber. The fiber in the oatmeal can also help lower your cholesterol levels.
